The Colorado Rockies and Venezuelan Baseball

Check out this awesome series Andrew Martin and the guys over at Purple Row are running. Neat stuff. -jbopp

http://www.purplerow.com/2012/3/26/2883341/how-the-colorado-rockies-are-a-keystone-in-the-venezuelan-pipeline-to

Over at Purple Row, we're launching a new series discussing the fact that the Rockies have 8 Venezuelan players who are at least competing for a 25-man spot and the ties to Venezuela.

It seems a bit obvious, given Rockies' scouting and their endeavors into Latin scouting, but this particular connection goes well beyond just Latin academies.

We're turning this into an article series that will talk with VZ players on the Rockies and discuss their journey from home in Venezuela and how they got to pro baseball, if not the majors.

I know we're more Stat-centric on BtB, but I figured this would be decent for discussion in at least a moneyball type of angle - the Rockies connection to VZ makes Colorado an ideal destination, like Yankee Stadium might be for USA born players. Could create a competitive advantage in terms of Latin Free Agents.

Anyhow, I hope you guys can take a second and read. It's mostly a cultural/human interest series, but I think my writer has done a great job with it.

Thanks, everyone!
