Jeff Sullivan’s FG departure; the rise of outfield shifts; teams ranked by tiers

MLB: Spring Training-Kansas City Royals at Texas Rangers Allan Henry-USA TODAY Sports

FanGraphs | Jeff Sullivan: This is the last time a Jeff column will appear in the MMV, and that’s because he has accepted a position with the Rays. He was one of the best in the sabermetrics community, and he will be sorely, sorely missed.

Bill James Online | Mark Simon: Do you think infield shifts are out of control? Well, outfield shifts are also on the rise. They’re up 89 percent since 2016, and the Astros unsurprisingly have utilized it to the fullest extent. Consider that the next wave of shifting, and subsequently the next wave of backlash.

ESPN Insider | Bradford Doolittle ($): If players could be tiered, ranked one through five, which team would have the best tiered player score? It would (shockingly) be the Yankees, followed by the Dodgers, Red Sox, and Astros.
