FanGraphs | Tony Wolfe: Zack Britton since becoming a reliever has been almost an exclusively sinker ball pitcher, but that has since changed. Britton has introduced a curveball to the mix, with devastating effect. Because batters expect the sinker and often do get it, the alternate curve makes for a deadly combination.
The Ringer | Michael Baumann: Though David Price is certainly older and his contract was the main reason Boston sent him packing, people forget he is still a good pitcher. His numbers don’t scream elite, but a mid-rotation arm is nothing to sneeze at for a contending club like the Dodgers.
Baseball Prospectus | Jonathan Judge ($): PECOTA’s 2020 edition is out, and it comes with a nice cheat sheet of correlations to test how good this year’s version is. Projected standings will be out on Monday, but suffice it to say that so far correlations for major statistical categories are higher than that of ZiPS and Steamer, though it seems the juiced ball is playing weirdly with DRC+. It’ll be interesting to compare to the full list of ZiPS once those are released as well.
