Al Yellon | Bleed Cubbie Blue: Theo Epstein, who helped engineer the Cubs team that ended a 108-year championship drought, will resign from his position as president of baseball operations effective November 20. Epstein has been in that role since 2011, and his successor will be current Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer.

Patrick Dubuque | Baseball Prospectus $: Baseball cards have long served as a measurement for how valuable a player or a team are, but with any metric, there’s something that they miss. Patrick Dubuque found three good teams with absolutely worthless baseball cards.

Craig Edwards | FanGraphs: Mike Clevinger will undergo Tommy John surgery, but the Padres signed him through the rest of his arbitration years. This was San Diego making the best out of a bad situation. Clevinger will earn roughly the same amount he would through arbitration, but the Padres get to defer most of his salary to 2022.
