Welcome to ‘Marty’s Musings’, my weekly column of numbers summarizing the happenings in the baseball world. I am your guide for taking an analytic look at the news and notes throughout the game, and highlighting this week’s key pitching matchups.

The free agent frenzy has yet to begin, but the Braves managed to add an arm last week.

News & Notes

15 - Million dollar, one-year deal the Braves agreed to with mid-rotation pitcher Charlie Morton. The journeyman vet most recently helped the Rays win the AL Pennant, where he started four postseason games and posted a 2.70 playoff ERA.

2 - Weeks after earning the Babe Ruth Postseason MVP Awards Randy Arozarena was arrested by Mexican authorities due to a domestic disturbance incident with a former partner. It’s unclear whether or not Arozarena ended up being charged, and any MLB implications are yet to be seen.

122 - Days until Opening Day 2021. What the country looks like at that point is anyone’s guess...
