Todd Zolecki | MLB.com: Rhys Hoskins’ season is over as the Phillies slugger requires surgery to repair a tear in his lower abdomen. Hoskins has been playing through the injury all season, but you wouldn’t know it from his stat line. Hoskins will finish the year with a .247/.334/.530 slash line with a 129 wRC+.

Isabelle Minasian | Lookout Landing: The Seattle Mariners claimed Sean Doolittle off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds. Doolittle had a 4.55 FIP through 38 13 innings with the Reds. To make room on the major league roster, Keynan Middleton was designated for assignment.

Daniel R. Epstein | Baseball Prospectus $: Jack Morris was recently suspended from the Tigers broadcast booth for making a racist comment on the air. Morris is hardly the only announcer to do that in recent years which raises the question: don’t baseball fans deserve better?
