Kyle Lesniewski | Brew Crew Ball: Corbin Burnes was placed on the IL Thursday for undisclosed reasons. Burnes wasn’t placed on the 10-day IL, so there’s no minimum amount of time that he’ll be ineligible.

Rob Mains | Baseball Prospectus $: Offense is down, strikeouts are up, and if that’s not enough bullying of hitters, hit by pitches are on the rise, too. We’re currently on pace to smash the HBP record, and there’s no obvious way to reverse course.

Michael Baumann | The Ringer: The Royals weren’t supposed to be good this year. Kansas City is still in the middle of a rebuild, but with April coming to a close, they have the best record in baseball. What gives?

Quick Hits

Kolten Wong made a throw that many second baseman have tried but few have pulled off.

Shane McClanahan hit triple digits while throwing a 92 mph slider. You know, normal stuff.

Yusei Kikuchi threw seven, one-hit innings as he led the Mariners to a 1-0 win over the Astros.
