Josh Timmers | Bleed Cubbie Blue: Joc Pederson was placed on the 10-day IL on Thursday. Pederson is dealing with left wrist tendonitis. Taking Pederson’s roster spot is Nico Hoerner.

J.J. Cooper | Baseball America: With the minor league season delayed, many minor leaguers are instead spending this time at their respective team’s alternate site. While a player is assigned there, they are to be paid like minor leaguers, but other benefits like food and housing vary from team to team with at least few not covering it all. The expense of staying at a hotel for a short term assignment can eat up much of the player’s pay.

Rob Mains | Baseball Prospectus $: April numbers generally don’t mean much in a six-month season, but in regards to team win-loss records, they mean more than you might think. April isn’t the most predictive month, but it’s also not the least predictive month either.
