Connor Byrne | MLB Trade Rumors: Padres starter Adrian Morejon will need Tommy John surgery. Kevin Acee reported the news early Tuesday evening. Morejon had been placed on the 10-day IL with a forearm strain, but the young lefty will ultimately miss the rest of the season and part of next.

Jay Jaffe | FanGraphs: Stephen Strasburg was placed on the 10-day IL with shoulder inflammation. That’s bad enough on its own, but the Nationals’ rotation has been one of the worst in the majors despite it being a strength on paper heading into the season.

Patricia Beninato | Buc’s Dugout: Neil Walker announced his retirement. The 35-year-old had a 12-year career as a major leaguer, amassing 19.6 bWAR in that time. Walker spent most of his career with the Pirates, playing a key role in the playoff teams of the 2010’s and winning the Silver Slugger in 2014.
