Tom Dakers | Bluebird Banter: Kirby Yates has a flexor-pronator strain and will miss multiple weeks. It’s bad news for the Blue Jays who signed Yates to a one-year deal over the winter especially since Nate Pearson is also sidelined with a groin strain. Yates missed most of the 2020 season with elbow inflammation.

Max Rieper | Royals Review: Over the weekend, the Royals signed Salvador Pérez to a four-year, $82 million contract extension with a $13.5 million club option for a fifth year. It’s atypical for a team in the Royals’ position to dish out that much money to a player in his 30’s so some have eyed the move with skepticism while others laud it because it keeps a fan favorite in his longtime home.

Ken Rosenthal and Nick Groke | The Athletic $: The Rockies are in a bad spot. They traded Nolan Arenado away, extension talks with Trevor Story aren’t going anywhere, half the analytics department left last year, and the team has been a disaster in free agency. How exactly did they get here?
