Welcome to ‘Marty’s Musings’, my weekly column of numbers summarizing the happenings in the baseball world. I am your guide for taking an analytic look at the news and notes throughout the game, and highlighting this week’s key pitching matchups.

The country has been ground to a standstill, with baseball as no exception. Some news and notes from last week.

News & Notes

0 - MLB spring training games currently being played or scheduled as part of preventative measures to contain Covid-19. In an unprecedented health crisis, MLB took the logical step of postponing / canceling all training activities as the country comes to grips with the most far-reaching health crisis in 100 years.

37 - Year-old Yadier Molina is reportedly in contract extension talks with the St. Louis Cardinals. Yadi is in the last year of a three-year contract, and expressed an interest in remaining with the Cards through 2021 and possibly 2022.

??? - Days until Opening Day. We enter into the ‘spring without baseball’...and it has nothing to do with labor disputes.
