Morning Mound Visit: Phillies finalizing deal to hire Dave Dombrowski

Phillies apparently have their president of baseball ops; Rangers acquire Nate Lowe; the Rule 5 Draft

Jeff Passan | ESPN: It appears that Dave Dombrowski will the new president of baseball operations for the Philadelphia Phillies. Dombrowski last served as Boston’s prez of baseball ops, and was fired within a year of winning the World Series. Prior to his contact with the Phillies, Dombrowski had committed himself to an investment group dedicated to bringing an MLB team to Nashville.

Daniel Russell | DRays Bay: The Rays and Rangers executed a six-player trade on Thursday. The biggest name of the bunch was Nate Lowe who is headed to Texas along with rookie league first baseman Jake Guenther and a player to be named later. In return, the Rays are receiving fringe top-100 prospect Heriberto Hernandez, shortstop Osleivis Basabe, and outfielder Alexander Ovalles.
