The price of a win in 2020 free agency; teams that jumped up to contender; the introduction of infielder OAA

MLB: Cincinnati Reds at Pittsburgh Pirates Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

FanGraphs | Craig Edwards: Last year, the league spent about $6.8 million per win in free agency, an odd and concerning drop for the league. This year, with a smattering of signings larger than last year, it has seemingly stabilized, bouncing back to $8 million or closer to $9 million including draft pick compensation.

ESPN Insider | Dan Szymborski ($): A lot of teams reinforce their existing state during the offseason; the Marlins stayed rebuilders and the Yankees stayed contenders, for example. But some teams jumped up to contender, like the Reds trading for Trevor Bauer and signing Mike Moustakas, and the White Sox signing Yasmani Grandal and Dallas Keuchel.

Tangotiger Blog | Tom Tango: Outs Above Average has made its infield debut, and you can read all about how players rank on the leaderboard, and how it compares to both UZR and DRS. I will also be posting a piece later in the day on this very subject.
