MLB: St. Louis Cardinals at Pittsburgh Pirates Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

FanGraphs | Craig Edwards: The Reds signed Nicholas Castellanos to a four-year deal, and with his projection of being worth about eight wins over the life of the deal, they’re really taking a shot on his offense being similar to last year. They also now have a glut of outfielders, so their moves could be far from over.

The Athletic | Keith Law ($): For the Diamondbacks, the Starling Marte trade makes a lot of sense by adding a good player and moving Ketel Marte to second base. But the Pirates will now have a sub-$50 million payroll and two long-shot prospects, a tanking formula that could technically work but will be ugly to watch this year.

ESPN Insider | Jay Jaffe ($): If you’ve missed out on the mid-tier players like Castellanos or Marcell Ozuna, there are still a few cheap options available. Brock Holt could be a cheap utility man, or Hunter Pence could provide some cheap power, to name a couple.
