Rays in trouble; how Keuchel and Kimbrel paid for waiting; Tulo’s lost promise

MLB: Chicago White Sox at Tampa Bay Rays Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

FanGraphs | Craig Edwards: The Rays have lost Blake Snell for the season, and they could be in some trouble. They could try to roll the dice on their lessened chances, or they can try to regroup for 2020. Either way, this is awful luck for an otherwise great story of the season.

Baseball Prospectus | Rob Arthur: While we don’t know what Craig Kimbrel and Dallas Keuchel sacrificed monetarily by waiting until after the draft, we know what they gave up physically: some velocity. Whether they get it back is unclear, but the holdover definitely did hurt them in the near term.

The Ringer | Zach Kram: Troy Tulowitzki, like many young studs like David Wright and Nomar Garciaparra, couldn’t stop the injury bug to be Hall of Fame caliber. That being said, he was still one of the more talented players to play at Coors Field.
