FanGraphs | Rian Watt: Nelson Cruz is a Twin, and while the Rays made a good run at him, it looks like Cruz will go to the now-possibly contested AL Central between the Twins and Indians. While the Indians may move Corey Kluber, Minnesota adds two wins and change.
Bill James Online | John Dewan: I generally agree here, that there is absolutely no point in banning the shift. Not only does it have almost no effect on offense—we’re at historical average for runs scored per game—it also only helps hitters who choose not to change their approach like Joey Gallo. It doesn’t affect the pace of play, because that has so much more to do with the change in pitchers and not in where the position players are standing.
ESPN Insider | Keith Law ($): This is what a Hall of Fame ballot will look like as the times change, as Law has a perspective that many of the private voters probably do not. Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, Gary Sheffield, and Scott Rolen all find themselves on this ballot.
