20 year old Chicago Cubs phenom Kerry Wood struck out 20 Houston Astros over 9 innings while only allowing one hit -- a grounder that sneaked under third baseman Kevin Orie's glove. Wood was never going to top that performance, but his career since is good statistically, if not disappointing health wise. We'll never be able to answer where Wood would sit amongst the game's elite if he stayed healthy, but if nothing else his rocky road has given us a reason to remember this gem; perhaps the most dominant performances by a starter in recent memory.
