Mahay a Royal

Bit of a shocker, but yet again those Dayton Moore led Royals have signed a sought after reliever. This time it's Mahay who gets 2 years, 8 million for essentially being a specialty guy. Frankly I think it's a bit much to pay a LOOGY, but if one of the lefties on the market should get four million annually it should've been the more reliable Mahay rather than - you know, J.C. Romero or Jeremy Affeldt.

Mahay's career OPS versus lefties is .693, nearly .060 points lower than his OPS versus righties, and while he is 36 the Royals may execute a delayed sign and trade tactic with Mahay similar to their Octavio Dotel deal last season.
