Vote on the "All Time Dream Lineup"
I've been a big fan of Graham Womack's reader-voted Hall of Fame projects from 2011 and 2010. Last night, Graham posted a survey for his newest reader-voted project—constructing an All-Time Dream Team. It looks simple until you click on one of those dropdowns. In center field, do you choose Cobb? Griffey? Mantle? Speaker? Mays? Gosh! Very curious to see the results here.
Graham's post about the new project is at Baseball Past & Present.

Boy, this was hard
I went: Gibson, Gehrig, Hornsby, Wagner, Schmidt, Ruth, Cobb, Musial, Walter Johnson. But I could have gone another way on most of those.

I think you’re missing a third baseman.

Gibson, Pujols, Jackie Robinson, Wagner, Schmidt, Ruth, Mays, Bonds, Maddux. Aaaalmost went for Hornsby. Schmidt, Ruth, and Bonds are the only ones I feel sure about.
Not actually affiliated with whygavs.

My team:
Gibson, Gehrig, Morgan, Schmidt, Wagner, Henderson, Mays, Ruth, Pedro
I wanted the greatest leadoff hitter of all time on my team, hence Henderson, and great fielding up the middle, hence Gibson, Morgan, Wagner, Mays. That left me with the premier 1B, 3B and RF.
My one regret is that I could have used Bonds to lead off and had the greatest LF (and second greatest player) of all time on the team as well.
At his peak, nobody has been greater than Pedro.
My team
Gibson, Gehrig, Hornsby, Wagner, Schmidt, Bonds, Mays, Ruth, Big Unit.
The only one I was hesitant on was 2B
Debated between Morgan and Hornsby. Really wish I could get Aaron on the team, and would have put him in LF over Bonds.

My team
Bench, Gehrig, Robinson, Schmidt, Wagner, Ted Williams, Mays, Ruth, Walter Johnson.
Tough omissions were Gibson (I’m just not confident enough because of statistical differences), Joe Morgan/Rogers Hornsby, Wade Boggs, Aaron, and Pedro.
