Chass

"This is a site for baseball columns, not for baseball blogs. The proprietor of the site is not a fan of blogs. He made that abundantly clear on a radio show with Charley Steiner when Steiner asked him what he thought of blogs and he replied, “I hate blogs.” … Bloggers, however, are welcome to visit this site; so are stats freaks, fantasy leaguers and Red Sox fans. How else will they know what is being said about them by a columnist they love to hate?" — Murray Chass

To be fair...

approximately 30,000 of the “blogger murray chass” mentions are from Tango’s blog.

Took longer to find the results for "columnist" too

Maybe that’s because Google recognized him more as a blogger? Is that how the series of tubes works?

I wonder if he thinks

“blogger” means everybody who comments on a blog. He seems to think that. Maybe over the years he has learned that “blogger” means the person or people who write, um, “columns” that other people then comment on. If he — along with Buzz Bissinger and others — have finally learned what the word he disparages so much actually means (something a proud print-centric partisan should have on top of a to-do list), maybe he should update his “About” page. And replace “VORP” with “wWAR” on there while he’s at it. Oh, and call up Joe Posnanski to ask whether “blogger” is a synonym for “columnist,” consider the answer, and then delete his “About” page and just write whatever the hell he wants on his blog.

What do you mean you want a helicopter ride?
