In Preparation for the 2011 MLB Draft - a Visual Historical Look
Baseball-reference has a great resource where you can search through the history of the Major League Baseball draft. So I went through and gathered all of the information that I could on the 1st round picks and created an interactive visualization out of it.
There are multiple tabs that you can select through. The first tab contains filters that will change the information on all of the other tabs.
Say, for instance, you wanted to select all pitchers who were drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the top 10 picks in the 70s or 80s who made the major leagues. You can do that.

See the interactive graph after the jump
Sheet 7: Draft picks by Year
Sheet 1: Number of players who did or didn't make the majors by team.
Sheet 2: Total WAR by pick number
Sheet 3: Total Career WAR by player by Team
Sheet 4: Number of players who did or didn't make the majors by position
Sheet 5: Number of players who did or didn't make the majors by year
Sheet 6: Number of 1st round selections by position
Sheet 8: Total WAR by draft order by team. If you select a team on the first sheet. Selecting a team on the first sheet may make good use of this.
If you select any point on any of the sheets, it will update Sheet 7 with only those values. Each selection will be remembered until you click off of it on that sheet.
Have fun!

Good work, Chris
Although I would have liked to see a couple axes flipped, and a “still with drafted team” dummy variable would also be useful.

Yeah, I'd like to do more with this
But I was stuck with what B-R had on their output.
