I don't think it's that surprising

but at the same time, he’s played a lot less games than David Wright because of injuries the past couple seasons. A-Rod hasn’t even played 140 games the past 3 seasons.

Love it

Personally, I’d combine “Positional and Fielding” as the positional adjustment is really just a contextual adjustment on one’s fielding.

Hopefully DWright bounces back from a down 2010 too!

Can't believe I didn't think of that.

It’d be a great way to address the “confusing” negatives on the stacked bar chart and eliminate the need for the ugly Total points.

Yes, I use ‘confusing’ sarcastically.

Well, Feliz shows us we’ll still have negatives (as does the SS list), but I think contextually is helps us see that Ike Davis isn’t equal to David Wright defensively (or something like that, ha).

Sure, negatives will still happen.

Still though, this could simplify several projects I’m working on. Obvious, simple, easy to fix. Thanks.

Trade David Wrong

Scott was asked if this win meant that Rex Ryan could now be looked at as an equal of Bill Belichick's as a coach.

"Why not better? Belichick is one Mo Lewis hit from being fired," Scott said. "[Brady] don't come in we might be talking about him on the unemployment line."

My boy!

It highlights how much damage he did the first three years, given the declining power in 2009 and the defensive decline the past two seasons.

Zim and Longoria are the future, but Wright could easily have another solid run the next few years.

Great work as always.

Shame:

Gordon didn’t even make the top 20. Injuries are a biznatch, aren’t they?

Love how Wright has a Gold Glove. What a joke.

The Jruth shall be told.

by packimop on Mar 9, 2011 3:28 PM EST reply actions

Not really

It’s more that his fielding has rapidly declined the past few years. IHe had pretty good range in his gold glove years. In the first, he had the most OOZ plays in the league, and by a lot. He almost definitely didn’t deserve the gold glove over Zimmerman, Rolen, or Feliz, but he was a reasonable choice.

by yellomellojello on Mar 9, 2011 3:39 PM EST up reply actions

His defense was actually pretty good in 07 and 08

He didn’t deserve the gold glove over other guys like Zimmerman and Feliz, but he is far from the worst defender to win a gold glove. 6.3 and 5.1 UZRs in his gold glove years are nothing to sneeze at.

Maybe he meant Wright was a joke?

Or maybe he had a lack of other GG winners on this chart from which to build a case?

Wright’s coming back, no doubt to me.

I hope so

If he can combine the power from 2010 with the OBP of 2009, he’ll be at least a 5 win player again.
