And the whole thing will end, and we will be right back where we started when trying to figure out the Selig Era. Well, we won’t be right back where we started … we’ll all be a little sadder. And then, we can look forward to the Roger Clemens trial this summer.

TJ Simers
That T.J. Simers article is so uncalled for it’s ridiculous. To go out of your way to attack and belittle Marcus Thames of all people…WTF? Calcaterra has already written two posts on the subject, he’s so pissed off.
Funny thing is, Simers even pokes fun at the pronunciation of Thames’ name, by referring to him as Tims/Tems. Here’s a writer for the LA Times who is baffled by a word that is spelled and pronounced exactly the same as a pretty well-known river in England.

Yeah, it really was.
I have a lot of respect for Thames for not reacting, and I really hope Simers is fired. What he did was just stupid, and uncalled for.

His editor too
How do you let crap like that through?
"If I have asthma, they won't let me scuba. And if I can’t scuba, then what’s this all been about?? What am I working toward??"
"You look like you should be married to one of the San Diego Padres."
That was just unbelievable
I never expected CHB to not be the biggest hack that I read this year.

Who's CHB?
I’m sure I’m just missing the obvious here. That reminds me that Murray Chass has some serious competition for troll of the year. So far, I’d rank them:
1. T.J. Simers
2. Bruce Jenkins
3. Murray Chass
I’m not sure if I’m properly defining troll here, but maybe some other description applies.

I Googled CHB...
I even did this before I asked the question, but it didn’t lead me to any obvious answers. Then, after I posted the question, I went back and Googled CHB baseball writer, and Dan Shaughnessy’s Wikipedia page was the first result. It was the second in the original search.
So, I looked at his Wikipedia page, and did a find for CHB and got nothing. Then, I looked at some of the other search results, and there was more on Shaughnessy, at which point it occurred to me that CHB means “Curly Haired B——”
I’m assuming the B is bee-yatch (not sure if the real word is OK to use here). It’s funny that CHB must be somewhere in the metadata for the Shaughnessy Wikipedia page, but not in the actual content. Or, at least to me, it was funny. :)

You got it, CHB is Shaughnessy
Though it stands for “Curly Haired Boyfriend” and was first used by Carl Everett. It’s used pretty regularly by Sox fan, in part because of the disdain for Shaughnessay and also because CHB is much easier to write than Shaughnessay. Honestly I hadn’t realized I used CHB instead of his name.

To add more from Carl Everett's wikipedia page
“He was quoted as saying, “God created the sun, the stars, the heavens and the earth, and then made Adam and Eve. The Bible never says anything about dinosaurs. You can’t say there were dinosaurs when you never saw them. Somebody actually saw Adam and Eve. No one ever saw a Tyrannosaurus rex.” He also derided fossils of dinosaur bones as man-made fakes.3 In reference to these comments, Boston Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy dubbed Everett “Jurassic Carl.” Everett, in turn, referred to Shaughnessy as the “curly-haired boyfriend” of Globe beat writer Gordon Edes.4 For these same reasons of his avowed pseudoscience views, he was often called “Truthosaurus” during his time in Chicago, and he was known as “C-Rex” in Seattle, a name given him by writers for the Mariners blog U.S.S. Mariner."
As much as I find Shaughnessay’s writing lazy and derisive, Jurassic Carl is one of my favorite nick names.
