Nelson Cruz had 125 hits in 2011, and 46% of them (58) were for extra bases. This obviously ignores his OBP, which was a mere .312. I don't have the data in front of me to say whether the HRs at nearly 25% over an entire season is a common occurrence, but it made me say wow. Maybe this deserves a quick look around the league?
