Graph of the Day

 Baserunning-teams-thumb-june2010_medium

Last week, we looked at how teams compare across the base running spectrum. I promised I'd take a closer look at several requested teams, and this is the result.

Full charts after the jump.

Notes & Questions

1. Jason Bay, good base runner.

2. Mike Jacobs, not a good base runner (was that really only seven games' worth?).

3. Check out the wheels on Nelson Cruz!

Stunning that the Rangers CF (Borbon) is

so much worse than the guy who looks like a lumbering beast (Cruz).

Vlad, sadly, looks better by these numbers than I expected.

Cruz, at 1.6, is positively a better-than-good player.

Not that he needs to be a good base runner, considering his offensive strength. I’m just saying that with a EQBRR that high and a hopefully better-than-moderate glove (I’ll look), Cruz is officially entering my top 10 favorite young players list.

Cruz is turning 30 in a couple of weeks

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Cruz has an excellent glove.

Is a good baserunner — he’s got surprisingly good speed for his size.
Knocks the crap outta the ball..

He’s, all around, a great player for a team. It’s nice to see him finally translating his dominance of the minors (AAA numbers in 08 were just retarded) to major league success.

Hopefully he keeps this up for a couple of years for us.

This has me holding out hope for a similar career path for

Kila Kai’ahaue. That said, it won’t happen until he’s 33 if GMDM has anything to do with it.

Borbon has been making some bad decisions

he and Elvis have been reined in a bit, lately by the team.

We always knew that Vlad

does his best baserunning at a trot.

this is sweet

can we see more teams for comparison or where can i find that?

baseball prospectus

for team numbers, I’m not sure where you could find individuals.

I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.

Can I request the Dbacks?

I’d particularly like to see how Chris Young and Justin Upton are doing.

I know.

The Mets get a lot of attention here, I think.

Maybe he just means “good attention.”

Bingo!

With all of the bad, confusing decisions made by Omar… Yeah.

And I heard it. In my head.

Go Twins!

Don't worry

They’re planning to bench Pagan last I heard once Beltran gets back, to make sure that Francoeur gets enough PA’s.
