Graph of the Day: Top 20 Active WAR Leaders, by Seasonal Age
From Baseball-Reference's active batting WAR list.
Colors are only used to help differentiate when players are clustered together. They don't actually mean anything.

Can Pujols keep up with Arod's pace?
He’ll need 22 WAR over the next 4 years – as a 1B. That’s pretty crazy.
The crazy part isn't the 5.5 per
It’s that a 1B can compare to an inner-circle top 5 all-time SS/3B

Few players
but then add their year to year totals, for a nice trend line.

I know Drew is underrated, but
I still had know idea he’d be that high on the leaderboard.

This is pretty cool.
Puts Drew, Posada, and Damon into perspective, right?
And who else is ready to argue about Todd Helton’s offensive numbers when his HOF ballot comes? People attribute his greatness to Coors, but even after you adjust his numbers, they’re still pretty damn impressive.

I'll fight for Helton
… when we get Edmonds and Thome in first. I don’t know why, but I have a bad feeling Thome is gonna get slighted. I don’t know how or why, but I just don’t have a good feeling. I had him on my underrated players list.
Helton not only looks good offensively after the adjustment, but he’s also got a nice glove.

Trust me, I'm in favor of Walker

I already tried to get the Walker’s-a-HOF train going in February, hopefully we can get some momentum going.

Yes, Walker
I can get behind that. I was just working off the active list.

Maybe I'm the only one,
but I’m a fan of Giambi.
And wait, Helton and Thome are actually NOT the same guy? Wow.

I don't know if I'd call myself a fan of the Giambino
But man, those 2001 numbers still blow my mind:
671 PA, .342/.477/.660, 38 homers, 47 doubles, 109 runs scored, 120 RBI, 153-83 walk-to-strikeout ratio
He was 78.7 runs above average offensively. That’s nearly EIGHT WINS OF OFFENSE, right there on his own. Pujols, A-Rod, Bonds, Sosa, Luis Gonzalez, Helton and Delgado are the only other guys to post a +70 RAA season this decade, and only Bonds, Sosa, Helton and Delgado had better offensive seasons.
You know, I might not miss the steroid days, but I still have a little fun being blown away by some of the video game numbers that these guys put up.

Two things, just for fun, that I'd like to see.
1) A progressiong WAR top 10. Like this Wikipedia page.
2) A reproduction of Baseball Prospectus’s “Best Player in Baseball” series using Rally’s WAR (and maybe different weights).
Assuming you have no problems querying their data
It seems like it would just be a fairly easy matter of keeping a running total of every players WAR from Year-to-Year
