BtB Open Thread: Games of May 17, 2010
Here's your open thread for today. It's sort of an amalgamation of a few things:
- A link dump integrated with twitter. To share a link simply tweet it and include the hashtag #btbdaily. (Re-tweets are not included, fyi.)
- An open game thread for discussing today's games. The schedule is listed below.
- A catch-all thread. Something else on your mind that the BtB community would be interested in? Share away.
Here are today's matchups, courtesy of ESPN. Pretty full schedule for a Monday, although the White Sox - Tigers game has been postponed. For developing storylines and links to team-specific game threads at SBNation blogs, keep an eye on SBNation's MLB page.

Terry Crowley
Has been with the O’s for over 10 years now. How does the same guy last in such a losing organization for so long? Hoping to find someone to help me compile some data so I can do a WOWY on him to see what he’s doing.

Did you see the fanpost on CamdenChat?

Decent start for a discussion on Crowley. For non-Orioles fans he tends to advocate for an agressive approach so only a few Orioles batters tend to take lots of walks (BRob and Markakis)
Also congrats Daniel for getting ur article onto fangraphs!

I think I'm going to pick a game that's close, instead.
Just none of them look appealing.
When in doubt, go with the Rays.
Could I tempt you
With Matt Wieters leading off the upcoming half-inning for the Orioles?

Maybe.
I don’t usually watch games for one hitter, though. Considering how slim the odds of something exciting happening are.
Well he singled
And hit the ball right through a fielder’s glove. So there.

Do the Royals
Relish getting a chance to face the O’s?

Elvis Andrus, he of the .417 OBP, has now tried three times to bunt today.
This is why Rangers fans are frustrated with Ron Washington.
The last time i'll ever say this
Oh, that’s Wieters?

Royals won, albeit barely.
I’ll take it.

If only
KC had waited to fire Hillman, they could have waited till they got to Baltimore and the two teams could have traded managers. Both still suck, but it would have been a fun change of pace. That ever happen before?

Pennant here we come!
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.
People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.
