Farm System Rankings

Recently, I published an article using 13 different rankings to get a combination ranking of prospects.   From those rankings, I created overall team rankings.

I took the average rank (94) of the lowest ranked player, Junichi Tazawa, to make the baseline value.  I added 1 to his average rank (94+1) to give Junichi Tazawa some value.  Then I subtracted each prospects averaged ranking from 95 to give each player a point value.  The top ranked player, Jason Heyward got the most points while Junichi Tazawa got the least.  Finally I added up the totals to get the overall rankings.

With all that work done, here are the organizational rankings:

Rank Team Points Number
1 Rays 399 7
2 Rangers 288 4
3 Indians 256 6
4 Braves 233 4
5 Royals 217 6
6 Red Sox 215 7
7 Giants 206 4
8 Reds 197 4
9 Marlins 196 3
10 Cubs 195 6
11 Orioles 190 4
12 Twins 182 5
13 Nationals 182 3
14 Mets 171 4
15 Padres 171 4
16 Rockies 169 3
17 Blue Jays 169 4
18 Mariners 165 3
19 Athletics 164 3
20 Yankees 144 3
21 Tigers 134 3
22 Brewers 130 3
23 Phillies 115 2
24 Pirates 115 3
25 Dodgers 103 3
26 White Sox 100 3
27 Astros 96 3
28 Diamondbacks 80 2
29 Angels 68 4
30 Cardinals 46 1

I know you're looking to convert Goldstein's rankings into something that can be Victor Wang-ized, but how about this cheat:

Simply divide all the hitters from the pitchers, bump all the pitchers down 25-50 spots, and apply a non-linear point system to the hitters that rewards the top 3, 10 and top 25 more?

Go at it. I have gotten the information I need from the data.

satcheleprice is looking to do the translations, I just offered to help.

I have the data based on Wangs work for the top 101

I’m figuring how to translate the remaining prospects into letter grades. I could definitely use some suggestions, rather than just going 4-B, 3-C, and figuring out some way to value 2-star guys.

I like baseball.
