WAR Fantasy draft
So a couple friends and myself decided to throw together a WAR draft using the exact rules you guys had here. There were some differences but overall it was the exact same. We used 60 million, the exact same amount of players, and slots those players played in. It was only a 10 team snake draft.
One player hasn't picked his last player and its been 5 days...He's bound to pick sooner or later, we hope. Either way, here are the teams:
I pretty much wanted to know what you guys thought of the teams and such.
--Who was a winner?
--Who was a loser?
--Best value pick? Worst?
Along with anything else that you would like to add.
**Final note: The number next to the name is the round they were drafted in.

Because he's got a big salary. He didn't go until Round 5 in the BOAB draft.
I’m surprised that Wieters and Beckham lasted so long while Pujols went in the first round.

We weren’t exactly concerned with prices as RP’s were really cheap.
Half of my entire team makes 425k.
Yeah, I just went with a different route.
I tried to get good depth, opting to avoid players with larger salaries in favor of having a deep pool of position players.

Most of the people that drafted with us saw the big name and went that way. I took Mauer in the first round because of the lack of depth at that position..Just hoping somehow that would end up paying off.
I watched most of yours guys draft and a lot of really good/cheap players went and it was odd.
I don't know
There’s definitely more risk in taking someone like Matt Wieters or Justin Upton. But the upside of a monster season is still there with those guys, and the cost is minimal. It enables you to take risks on guys in the $4-6M range with big upside, like J.J. Hardy, for example.
I think that both strategies can work though, if executed properly.

Both
Justin Upton and Wieters are in for a huge season IMO. Upton’s season last year was really nice, so having a huge season isn’t exact that far off. Knowing the people that this was done with, it was the safer strategy to go with the “proven” player than the higher upside most of the time.
Either way, everybody stayed under budget, barely.
Yeah, I finished with a budget of exactly $60M.
I had $5.1M going into my final pick, and I used all of it on Hardy.

He was way too much.
A lot of people drafted really expensive players in the first round…
So taking on 2 huge contracts at around 30 million when you’ve only got 60 million to spend didn’t appeal to anybody.
And Porcello in round 9?
That could be a steal, he’s a beast.
