Pinchhitter's minimum wOBA?
Does anybody know how good a pitcher's wOBA (or any other preferred stat) to justify using him as a pinch hitter?
I feel almost certain that it was covered here, possibly as part of the line-up optimization. If not then I bet (or more accurately hope) that Tango did some work on it and that somebody knows it.
I'm planning to write a fanpost on it, probably comparing teams that have good pitcher-hitters like the Astros' Mike Hampton versus great ones like the Reds' Micah Owings
If Anybody has any suggestions or something they want to hear about related to this, feel free to leave a comment. Scratch that. Please leave a comment.
Thanks in advance

You can check baseball reference's splits
To see what the average pinch hitter does. Then go from there.
F%#& Billy Beane. Actually... I kinda like Holliday
Really, all that matters is that the pinch-hitter's wOBA, with adjustment down for the PH penalty, is higher than the guy he's replacing.
The PH penalty is roughly 25 points of wOBA per 600 PAs.

Hitters don't do as well when they're coming into PH as they do if they're in the game full time, from The Book.
Although it would be an interesting study to see if it also would apply to pitchers. Not much of a sample to go on, though.
