Coincidentally, I was playing with some Win Shares the other day (I know, not the favorite topic around here and found that Jesus Alou was one of the lowest performers compared to expected Win Shares still given a lot of regular time. For his career, he was seven Win Shares Below Bench, despite being an outfielder (harder for an outfielder to be below expected Win Shares). That’s exactly equal to his career WAR, by the way (2.3).
