JP is not the closer but actually it has worked out that way but there still may be situations he can pitch earlier and someone else close
@RaysJoeMaddon Yes, it's him. No, he's not using a traditional closer. Yes, the Rays are better off for it. No, his pitchers aren't revolting and fans aren't protesting.

I really enjoy a manager feeding me quotes.
Can we get him to do post-game press conferences via Twitter?

Now if only Tito and Theo realized we don't need Paps.

I don't think there's a lot Theo doesn't realize
didn’t they originally plan him to be a starter?

I'm not sure.
They tried to use him as a starter in 2005 for a few games, IIRC. And he started a lot in the minors in 2004 and 2005. He really isn’t worth the money he’s going to start demanding, and we can use other pitchers in “save situations” just as well.

I thought he complained in ST one year until they gave in
I wouldn’t be surprised if he walks, for those reasons.

He declared that he would be a closer before the 2006 season, I think.

I'd like to see him traded soon, actually.
Don’t know who wants his ego or salary though.
