An early look at HITf/x -- The Hardball Times
I broke down some HITf/x in an early look at the sample data. Focus is on initial speed and launch angles, and this is just the beginning.

graphs are good
words are sometimes required, though
I have slept, but I I just gave some hitf/x related business to my chiropractor. Not kidding. Follow-up adjustment on Friday before the Cubs game
"words are sometimes required, though"
Yea I can see that as long as the words are on the Graph

cool...
This is really neat… One suggestion though, on the horizontal angle charts: reverse the x-axis so 135 (i.e., the third base line) is on the left
I noticed that after I posted it
I had to edit some text as a result.

Harry,
I wrote something on amazinavenue about generating 4-D maps to better evaluate player defense http://www.amazinavenue.com/2009/6/8/903230/u-z-r. They referred me to this site and told me about HIT/Fx which is 50% of the data I need. In order to try to generate these maps I need to record hits as vectors, so I also need a location on a 2-D map. My questions are first, do you think this is a good idea, and second where can I find this data?
distance traveled on a 2-D map and second time traveled in the air.
Mike Fast, and others, are working on ways of estimating these values from hitf/x. Rather, work is underway to make the estimates more precise. Sportvision has started researching actual player tracking (FIELDf/x), so at least two approaches to the problem are being taken.

This is seriously awesome.
I love the horizontal angle ground ball graph.
Decrease runs scored?
Maybe.
Decrease winning? Never seen that proven.
