Is Adrian Beltre underrated...?
My first WAR graph... so be gentle... :) I was reading something about Adrian Beltre recently and noticed that considering he's just 30, he seems to racking up a pretty decent WAR... Alot of that has to do with him starting young, but even his WAR/600 PA stacks up with better players than I think he is perceived as being.
Anyways, here is Beltre vs Delgado, Brock, Clemente and Juan-Gone, all through age 29 [all four were within 10% of Beltre's WAR/600 through age 29 and all of them accumulated atleast 4500 PAs through age 29]:

Interesting mix of players there.
Beltre’s got the glove and decent power. Juan Gone is all offense. Delgado, too. Brock is all getting on base and moving over. Clemente has more of an all-around reputation.

Pretty interesting. Now if he would only start helping my fantasy team. The bum.

Beltre is underrated because defense is underrated

A couple more...
If Eddie Murray and Ozzie Smith are HoFers, is Barry Larkin?
If Gwynn is a HoFer and Alomar is a probable HoFer, then are Lofton and Walker HoFers too?

I think most people don't consider Lofton that great because he became a journeyman.
And the Coors Effect is going to hurt Walker’s chances. To me, both should be in. Larkin deserves to as well, it appears.

Lofton
Lofton and Alomar’s lines are practically identical, so wouldn’t you then have to argue that Alomar isn’t a HoFer either?

I wasn't arguing that either shouldn't be a Hall of Famer.
I said that the perception of Lofton is going to hurt his chances – I would absolutely vote for him if I had a say.

Also...
Since this is a park/league adjusted stat, Walker comes in at the level of Gwynn/Alomar after adjusting for Coors.

Yes, I understand that.
Unfortunately, the voters don’t look at WAR when they decide who to vote for. I said that Walker is going to have a harder time than he should because the voters are going to put too much weight on the Coors Effect.

I love how underrated Larry Walker is. Do I smell an All-Underrated According to WAR article...?

That sounds like 'hitters who were excellent at defence and played in hitters parks'
