Pitch type linear weights
Seriously, someone should buy David Appelman a house; and Dave Allen for that matter too. Thanks to the latter's great work with Pitch F/X, the former was able to show linear weights by pitch for every pitcher in the majors.
A w before the pitch denotes the total runs saved above average by that pitch, and a /C following it marks runs saved per 100 pitches. The link is to Wandy Rodriguez, who's curveball has saved 3.07 runs per 100 this year. Zach Grienke has save 3.22 runs/100 with is slider and 2.97 runs/100 with his fastball this year. Interestingly, Tim Lincecums fastball has been a negative pitch for him this year, most likely reflecting his high BABIP.
Anyway, another big thanks to the Dave's for getting this together. I seriously can't believe FanGraphs is still free.
