B.J. Ryan is on the DL. Go figure.
There's going to be variance park-to-park and game-to-game, but:
- He's only cracked 90 once this year.
- That pitch is just the 234th fastest I have from B.J (not including 2007).
- His next fastest pitch in 2009 is 385th overall (that's out of 1084 pitches, which includes off-speed and breaking).

He's the poster child for horrid mechanics.
Ridiculous elbow torque. Bad body action. Terrible follow-through. I don’t think you could design worse mechanics than what he uses.
The joke’s not on Ryan, though, because someone agreed to pay him like $50MM.

I just read this post and thought...
“I think Kyle or Trip said B.J. Ryan had the worst mechanics of any major league pitcher…”

I'm pretty sure we've both said that.
I’m also pretty sure that just about everyone else has said that as well (except for maybe B.J. and his dad).
If I did get video of him, I would write an article about how not to pitch like B.J. Ryan… unless you want $50MM… geez.
