Graph(s) of the Day: The Yankees' newest lefty reliever
Putting R.J.'s graphing 101 tips to good use....
Rumor has it that Swisher can also play outfield. He was the only Yankee pitcher to not be scored upon in last night's game against the Rays and amazingly, he struck out a batter. That batter was Gabe Kapler.

Also I love how he went sidearm on a few pitches.

Were the side-arm pitches fastballs, too?
If so, it’s interesting to see how the axis of rotation made the four side-arm fastballs tail more and “rise” less.

i don't have time to check
but i’m guessing those sidearm pitches are the four on the far right on the movement graph

That was my assumption, yes.

sadly true
i watched his outing yesterday (i know, watching a nationals game is a waste of time, right?) and while his breaking balls still look good, he couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with that fastball. i’m thinking the Nat’s should try replacing D Cab with Austin Kearns. It would help solve the OF logjam, and he couldn’t be worse. OF’s as pitchers: the new undervalued player.

And Kearns would hit well for a pitcher.
Aaron King is still my homeboy... iffy mechanics and all
If Dustin Pedroia played in Seattle, not many people would be talking about him.

Our organizational philosophy is using Pitchfx as our change-up.
It’s easily learned, and adds another dimension to our writers arsenal.
And yes I’ve been saving this joke for a month.

about anyone can throw one
but if you have a really good one, you can be an ace. I guess that makes Harry our Johan.

Gabe Kapler.
Can we name some sort of award after Gabe Kapler, some sort of award that no one ever wants to win ever again?

Graphs too?
Watching Swisher pitching was very funny – goes to show that it’s not how fast you throw.
