MLB tries to combine fantasy and season predictions
I appreciate the spirit of it, but...yeah, it doesn't turn out well.

Umm
This might work, if fantasay baseball stats actually had any correlation to wins. Most fantasy leagues (BoaB not withstanding) deal mainly with W/L records WHIP and ERA for starters, HRs, RBIs and Batting Average for hitters, and Saves and Holds for releivers. None of those stats indicate how good a player is very well, and none of them have any direct correlation to wins (except for ERA, but it is very flawed).

And in addition to that
They try to compare teams by ranking their starters, and then assigning more points for a higher rank, which is a completely flawed methodology; if a position is weak throughout the league, it rewards players who are mediocre but better than the peers at their position, and punishes players who are really good but play a position with a lot of other really good players.
Brewers Baseball and other assorted nonsense (mostly the assorted nonsense) at my blog, What's a Tararrel?
Using rankings in a multi-team analysis is a pet peeve of mine.
It’s a crutch used by people who don’t know how to translate a category into something useful/meaningful/applicable.
