Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

OF Rick Ankiel, StL OF
OF Brian Giles, SD OF
OF J.D. Drew, Bos OF DTD

OF Nick Swisher, NYY 1B, OF
UTIL Freddy Sanchez, Pit 2B
Bench Jeff Clement, Sea C, DH

You don't like your man BJ Upton?

Yeah, and I kinda focused more on Pitching… but I think the OF has potential if Ankiel produces like last yr, Drew stays healthy, and Swisher plays more like 2007…

Because they don't!!!

I’d rather have gamers like Rowand and Erstad….

Aaron King is still my homeboy... iffy mechanics and all

If Dustin Pedroia played in Seattle, not many people would be talking about him.

Jesus...I had an eerily similar draft on Monday

Albeit, it was a 10-team league but:

C Brian McCann
1B Lance Berkman
2B Dan Uggla
3B Aubrey Huff
SS Jose Reyes
OF Carlos Beltran
OF B.J. Upton
OF Justin Upton
UT Elijah Dukes (OF)

BE Alex Gordon (3B)
BE Rickie Weeks (2B)
BE Matt Wieters ©
BE Jed Lowrie (SS/3B)
BE Nick Swisher (1B/OF)

SP1 Francisco Liriano
SP2 Chad Billingsley
SP3 Joba Chamberlain
SP4 Matt Cain
SP5 Ricky Nolasco
RP1 Joakim Soria
RP2 Chad Qualls

Matt Wieters fell to me in the 14th round. But I had the same thought, how much would I love an outfield consisting if Beltran stuck in between the Upton boys?

Suggestion

You all should play in bigger leagues. Or against smarter people?

These two teams look absolutely menacing.

In my defense,

I’ve never actually played fantasy baseball before; I’m just a real life baseball fanatic who happened to fall into a league with some acquaintances a day before the draft.

But yeah, next year I’ll prob. try to play with some smarter/more knowledgeable people. There really is no reason I should have gotten McCann and Wieters.

Actually, the Gordon pick was a mistake.

He was at the top of my queue and was picked when I ran out of time not knowing it was my pick. But yes, I like him.

Nelson Cruz and Elijah Dukes are going to be huge. Huge! Anyone for a sandwich and chips bet on them? I’m more worried about Choo. Pitching should be able to plug a hole or two.

I like

the Cruz/Dukes picks a lot too. I have Cruz too, somehow he wasn’t on the list I copied earlier. I think he has a real shot to be this years Carlos Pena/Jack Cust/Ryan Ludwick. Plus he’s hitting in Arlington in the middle of one of the top AL lineups, so there’s your R/RBI.

And sure he’s a head case, but so were Dick Allen and Albert Belle. Not saying he’s gonna be as good as those two, but still, there is a lot of talent there, and what do the Nats have to lose?

My pitchers:

I still keep thinking KJ is going to surprise all the naysayers. In a fantasy league, I feel he has potential for insane value since in RL his only real knock is defense which he will never excel at despite improvement over the past couple of seasons.

By the way, I second the comments about people need to challenge themselves in these leagues instead of look for leagues with low amounts of teams or relatively low understanding of how the leagues work. Playing with friends is one thing, I completely understand that. Some people though purposely look for leagues they can dominate so they can say “look at my team” when really they have accomplished nothing. Even if you do win, it’s still just a fantasy baseball league. :D Seriously, challenge yourselves. :p
