Graph of the Day: Sliders from the WBC
Felix again with the power pitch. LaMura returns with a droopy looking slider. Corradini throws a pitch that looks a lot like Hernandez's, with less velocity.

R-L Movement,
I would have expected more change in the ball moving right to left.
I just got back from your mom's basement.
I can't speak for the other two.
But Felix’s slider looks a lot like a 88mph curveball when you see it live. Very little horizontal movement but crazy late vertical break.
I was at Shea for the Felix-Slam!
Personal M's record: 5-4.

Many sliders
don’t really move left much, if at all – they just move less right than fastballs and change-ups.
Yeah, that fact is something I've only picked up in the last few months. Still surprised.
Fastballs move a lot – they tail. Sliders are effective because they don’t. The net effect is that they seem to slide away, but most don’t actually move that much.
