That is a fantastic story.
I remembered looking Thomas’s numbers once and thinking “He was really that good?” That 94 season in particular is stunning.

Thomas deserves WAY more props than he gets. Absolutely AWESOME hitter.
That being said, Pujols destroys him in defensive value.

non-active players after WW2, only Mays, Mantle and Bonds top Thomas in both rate and count stats.
One could very very seriously argue that Thomas is a all time top 20 offensive player
