Weekly Box Score: February 14th to 20th
In case you missed anything, here's what was discussed during the past week at BtB:
- The shape of the strike zone seems to be different for righties and lefties, so finds Graham.
- Sky used Dan Fox's baserunning data from BPro to take a look at the best baserunners and baserunning teams in 2008, ignoring stolen bases.
- The whole BtB crew voted on who the most productive players of 2009 will be. Yes, Albert Pujols makes an appearance.
- RJ shared three facts each about the Rangers, Mariners, Athletics, Royals, Tigers, and Twins.
- Mr. Quick broke down Tom Glavine's new contract and likely value to the Braves.
- The Ball on a Budget fantasy leagues got under way. Check out the FanPosts section in the right sidebar for the draft and trash-talk threads.
- Sky started his Graph of the Day series, highlighting the best shortstop and third base seasons, strange 2002 AL MVP voting, and the worst players since 2002.
- BtB reader VictorW won himself a copy of THT's 2009 Annual with his witty flowchart of Dusty Baker's thought processes. (Is the pitch a strike? Trick question -- who cares, swing away!)
- Chris Perez, a closer candidate for the Cardinals, got the Pitch f/x treatment from Harry as he attempts to make his release point more consistent.
- Subjective power rankings? The Mariners as the worst team in 2009? Houston as league-average? Foolish according to RJ and common sense.

Good idea.
Seems there has been quite a bit of activity here lately, and things can jump off the page quickly.

Thanks.
I got really excited today that the archives page would provide one-stop shopping for keeping up with comments in non-front page posts, but alas, it doesn’t list new comments, just total comments. I’ve put in a feature request to our tech team to fix that.

As far as I can see, yes it does. I see things like “3 comments, 2 new” after the threads. I may just have to straight link that, although I’ve been used to my RSS feed. But with that many times I’ve skipped a few days of reading because of work and school and I come back to 17 new pages, almost filling my drop down menu. At least this would hit the big items.
(BTW Go ahead and leave Chris’ articles out of this. He pimps them enough other places ;-)

Well hot damn!
It wasn’t showing me any because I’d read all of them. Thanks!
