In light of John Henry's recent statements, here's a graph I did about how often the Red Sox have publicly and nobly stood up for their small-market brethren. I can't see any reason to doubt their altruism, do you?

Very Nice
I assume he wants the cap around $150 million and a floor at $130 million.
Anyone care to chance a guess as to what happened those two years?
Hint: Both involve former Ranger All-Stars.

All annoying whining aside, the Sox are in a great position for a moderately high cap.
Even at, say, a $120MM cap, they’d outspend 2/3 of baseball and sport one of the brighest general managers. And they’d save some money.

And line Henry's pockets even more
But I’m just bitter that the Yankees need to spend $200 million to stay even.
