Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

"After Cashman secured more power within the Yankees before the 2006 season, Torre felt that Cashman was mostly interested in basing decisions on statistical analysis and practicality. That created a division with Torre, who said he often reminded Cashman that there was a 'heartbeat' in baseball."

A heartbeat that can later be insulted in your book for cash.

That's priceless

Let’s not get bogged down in the facts, or mired in the truth.

Cashman doesn't follow the Yankee way!!!!!

For those children who claimed they’ve been a fan of their favorite team all their life, or even since they were about four or five years old: bullshit. There’s always that certain event or certain player that draws to the sport and draws you to a team. For me, Nomar Garciaparra was that reason. - Nick Coviello: I Try To See Rocco, But All I Think Is Nomar; 1/9/09

it's the yankee way now.

this is like a culture rift in any business. doesn’t matter what the basis of the difference in outlook is. someone wins and the loser complains. happened long before sabermetrics was a word and will happen long after.
