This comparison will be a dead horse by the time Kent is actually Hall eligible, but here are the career numbers anyhow:
Traditional means:
Player | PA | BA | OBP | SLG | HR | SB |
Kent | 9537 | 0.29 | 0.356 | 0.5 | 377 | 94 |
Sandberg | 9282 | 0.285 | 0.344 | 0.452 | 282 | 344 |
Advanced means:
Player | PA | wRAA | Bt Wins |
Kent | 9537 | 283.5 | 27.2 |
Sandberg | 9282 | 242.5 | 15.4 |
We obviously can't compare defense because, well, we don't have a ton of either to work with. Even if you assume Sandberg is a better defense, is he 40+ runs or 12 wins better over his career? Otherwise, Kent has a nice argument in this one.
