Backe gets 1.5 million
I am in no way exaggerating when I state that Backe might be the worst staring pitcher in baseball. Frankly, I'm unsure how the Astros decided it was wise to tender him. Since 2004, Backe has been worth exactly 1 win. That's with 400+ innings of starting. Last three years: -0.5 wins.
Career worth: ~1.9 million.
2009 salary: ~1.5 million.
Heavens.
