Halladay is Really, Really Good
A few quick facts on Halladay:
Do you know when the last time Halladay walked more hitters than he induced stringing strikes? July 12th, 2007 at Boston. Since that game he's started 43 games with 13 complete games.
Halladay has eight complete games this season, that's more than every team in baseball except Cleveland and Milwaukee. Call it the CC Sabathia effect. Average pitches per inning: 14.44, Sabathia: 15.08.
Halladay's salary this season is 10 million, Barry Zito is making nearly five million more and Carlos Silva is only making three million less. Not only is Halladay really, really good, but he's underpaid and will only make about 30 million over the next two seasons.

RJ, how about posting Halladay's average number of swinging strikes and BBs per start (or per IP) compared to some other pitchers, good and bad...
I don't have the numbers
But Halladay gets around 15% of his strikes swinging, Johan is getting 17% this season.

Zito is an outlier
“Barry Zito is making nearly five million more” is a random data point, not something in line with reality, save that some idjit decided to pay him that.
It’s like saying “Brendan Harris is good. Derek Jeter is making six gazillion dollars more”; good as a punchline, but doesn’t really mean anything about the positive player.
what people decide to pay players seems rather in line with reality.
regardless of whether idiots are also out in the marketplace.

It means Halladay is making less money than Zito and is far better.

98% of the pitchers in the league...
Are making less money than Zito and are far better. Perhaps some position players as well.
