Approval Voting And The AL MVP
There were a few hundred people who cast their ballots for the NL MVP (voting is still open) so I figured it would be worthwhile to post a poll for the AL MVP. Once again, we're using approval voting because it's better than just voting for one player and a lot easier to set up than a full ranked ballot. I've included a long list of players based on Justin's total value leaders, Win Probability Added leaders, and mainstream press leaders.
Please vote for any and all players that you approve of as American League Most Valuable Player. Voting ends Thursday at noon. Feel free to leave your ballot in the comments.

I wrote in Barry Bonds
Given the list there—where is Derek Jeter, though—he deserves more consideration than several entrants.
Which we must assume is deliberate.
who are you thinking of?
I would agree Jeter was more valuable than a few names listed, say Bobby Abreu (rates well in WPA, though), Jason Bartlett (a joke), and maybe Francisco Rodriguez. But the rest are pretty decent names. Anyone else you want my thoughts on? Jeter wasn’t all that good this year, after all — a touch above average.

I'm surprised Huff didn't get more votes
On a HORRENDOUS Orioles team, he’s had a fantastic offensive (and good defensive) season.
i voted for an Oriole
but it was Brian Roberts

Mauer?
"Lefty relievers are like the different Mountain Dew flavors. New ones keep appearing, and people are willing to buy, but in the end most of them suck." - Gallagher's Watermelons
he'd about third on my ballot
slightly better offensively than Morneau (.040 OBP advantage more than offsets .050 point SLG disadvantage) and is light-years ahead on defense (2 wins just for position, and he’s a good catcher versus Morneau as a mediocre first baseman.)

THE DESTROYAH NEEDS MORE VOTES!!!
His ego is shrinking!
Remember when we were kids and we mixed sodas together and called them "suicides"? It was OK though, because Dr. Pepper was always there.
Uhh…Where’s Maure? He’d get my vote.
..so allow me to present Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain as two sweet, sweet bottles of warming hooch.
crap, now I understand the earlier Mauer comments.
ugh, I left him off by accident. was definitely on my hand-written list, as he’s awesome.

can we get a re-do
Space.
It's a problem we face.
So we never go anywhere.
We just stay in one place.
