Giants: 100+ innings without a home run

Following today's loss to the Padres, the Giants have gone 102 innings without hitting a single home run. The last one came off Bengie Molina's bat on July 22nd.

As a Giants fan, this seems sort of impressive in a perverse sense. But I have no idea how rare it is to go so long without a home run, and my Google-fu is failing me. So I'm turning to you guys: how long has it been since a team has gone over 100 innings without any home runs? What's the longest any team has gone in recent years?

When Bonds returning for the ceremony, he seemed to be pleading with all of baseball to give him a shot.

If he stayed true to his word and asked only to be payed the minimum and then donate it, I don’t see why the Giants wouldn’t do it. I can’t imagine too many of their fans or any other fans would be angry about it.

I don't see..

How any baseball veteran would play for the minimum. I’m sure the players union would even put up a fuss about it too. I can’t imagine too many (read virtually any) of their fans would be angry about it if he came back on something like a $7-9 million (pro-rated) type contract.

Homerless Game Streaks

Angels last season went 14 straight games without a homer (topping the Giants 12 straight during July -August this season). Astros back in 1979 went 20 straight without a homer. Thank you baseball-reference.com Play index!

Most consecutive games without a homerun

Well, to answer your question, it depends how far back you would look. Of course during the “dead ball era”, fewer home runs were hit by each team. In fact, the balls were so dead and the confines not so friendly that, in 1908, the Chicago White Sox managed to hit just 3 home runs. And to add a little more to the story, the team (if you can even give them that much credit) scrapped together a .224 batting average. Now I dont know the exact drought the White Sox endured in that year, but since there were about 140 games, each 9 innings, even if the 3 home runs were spread out evenly there would be a gap of about 315 innings between home runs. If you look more current, however, the streak gets much shorter.
