Tigers Pass on Jack Wilson, Sign Adam Everett
Outside of name value, it's not that steep of a drop in talent. Using Marcels/Chone:
| Player | BAT | FLD | WAR |
| Wilson | -0.8 | 0.7 | 2.9 |
| Everett | -2.5 | 1.9 | 2.4 |
Adjust those numbers as you see fit. Wilson's price tag is slightly more than six million dollars higher and would cost additional young talent via trade (Matt Joyce was rumored.) Not a bad day for the Tigers, acquiring a starting catcher and shortstop while spending less than five million.

I really have to question whether Everett is a +19 defender at this point
He played minimally last season and had a horrible broken leg in 2007.
I suspect he’s closer to half that.

+10 per 150 by bUZR
As per The Book Blog’s discussion, I’m going to refer to the BIS-based UZR as bUZR, somewhat because it’s fun to mentally say “boozer” every time I type it. +25 runs per 150 in 2006 and 2007.
Beyond the Boxscore // Calling BJ Upton lazy is lazy.
I already feel like an ingrate
thinking “I wish we had arm ratings” and “why are all the publicly available PBP systems BIS-based, how are we supposed to average with STATS?”
OMG Banny. FWIW I am only crdtng u w/3 runs allwd bc of DDJ OMFG

Even so, the cost/performance works out nicely.
Wilson is cost prohibitive. Nice signing by the Bucs
